# sk183898 - raid_diagnostic shows "State:INITIALIZING Flags:OUT_OF_SYNC" after Disk replacement

## Symptoms

- * After RMA, when attempting to set up a second disk, the command `raid_diagnostic` shows:  

  `State:INITIALINZING Flags:OUT_OF_SYNC`

* Hot swap of the disk does not resolve the issue.

* This error shows in the output of `raid_diagnostics`:  

  `awk: cmd.Line:1:(FILENAME=/sys/block/md2/md/sync_completed FNR=1) fatal: division by zero attempted`

## Cause

The second disk is present but is marked as a ***spare*** in the RAID configuration, preventing the automatic rebuild.
