## Solution

For Remote Access VPN Gateways, the legacy Policy Server daemon is turned off by default starting from:

* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R82](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R82/Default.htm) Take 41.
* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.20](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.20/Default.htm) Take 115.

<br />

The daemon is not required and not supported. The daemon was responsible for:

* Sending Desktop Policy to Remote Access clients
* Sending SCV (Secure Configuration Verification) Policy
* Receiving logs from Remote Access clients
Other daemons have now taken over these functions. As a result, Remote Access operations do not involve the legacy Policy Server daemon. In earlier versions, the Policy Server daemon listened on TCP port 18231.
