# sk183795 - Creating Threat Emulation exceptions for Microsoft Windows updates fails

## Symptoms

- * When Threat Emulation processes Microsoft Windows updates, SmartConsole shows a log with action **Detect** and this error message:  

  "*File exceeded size limit*".

* Adding exceptions for the Windows updates URLs as Domain objects, whether as FQDN or non-FQDN Domain objects, does not resolve the issue.

* Adding the Microsoft updates URLs as updatable objects to the exception rule does not resolve the issue.

* In **SmartDashboard** \> **HTTPS Validation** \> **HTTPS Inspection** \> **Whitelisting** , **Bypass HTTPS Inspection of traffic to well known software update services** is selected.
