# sk183758 - Unable to monitor the virtual tunnel interfaces (VTI) counter statistics with SNMP

## Symptoms

- In a route based VPN setup with a VTI (Virtual Tunnel Interface) configured, the VPN tunnel is up and operational. However, when attempting to monitor the tunnel's throughput via SNMP, the interface counters for total octets (bytes) consistently return 0. The same result is observed when checking directly on the Security Gateway (e.g., via `ifconfig`), where both RX and TX byte counters remain at `0`, despite the tunnel being active.
