# sk183678 - E-mail delivery failure post-upgrade of R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 54

## Symptoms

- * After upgrading R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator (JHF) Take 54, the appliance stopped receiving e-mails.

* The Postfix service failed to start because of a missing `/opt/postfix/etc/postfix/virtual.db` file.

* This error appears in `/var/log/maillog`: "*error: open database /opt/postfix/etc/postfix/virtual.db: No such file or directory*".

* E-mails remained on the Quantum Security Gateway and were not delivered to the internal mail server.

* Manually recreating the `virtual.db` file on another Threat Emulation appliance restored e-mail delivery.

## Cause

Starting from R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 54, the Check Point upgrade process reinstalls the entire Postfix directory.  
This process removes all custom configurations, including:  

* The virtual alias mapping file:  
  `/opt/postfix/etc/postfix/virtual`
* Its compiled database:  
  `/opt/postfix/etc/postfix/virtual.db`

As a result, any custom e-mail alias mappings are lost after the upgrade.  
This is expected product behavior and not a software bug.
