# sk183623 - LOM user authentication via RADIUS fails with "User access denied. Please contact the administrator"

## Symptoms

- * RADIUS users cannot log in to the Lights Out Management (LOM) interface.

* Authentication attempts return this message:

  `User access denied. Please contact the administrator.`
* The Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) server logs show successful authentication (Access-Accept), but LOM access is denied.

* RADIUS authentication works correctly for SSH and WebUI access to the Gaia Operating System, but not for LOM.

* Local users can log in to the LOM interface without issue.

## Cause

The RADIUS Authorization Profile on the Cisco Identity Services Engine server is misconfigured for LOM access.

Specifically, the Access-Accept response does not include the required attribute (examples: `privilege=Administrator` or `privilege=Operator`) that defines the user's privilege level. The LOM interface uses this attribute to assign the correct role. If the attribute is missing, LOM denies access even after successful authentication.
