# sk183572 - Routing session reset when adding or removing VLAN interface on a Virtual System

## Symptoms

- When adding or removing a VLAN interface in an environment with dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP configured, the dynamic routing session on the standby cluster member may reset.

## Cause

If an interface that is relevant to the *routed* daemon flaps or is added/removed, routed can bring the standby cluster member down so it can resynchronize dynamic routing information from the active member.   
During this process, the standby member resets all dynamic routing information.   
The active member does not reset routes unless the changed VLAN is directly used by *routed*.
