# sk183426 - Not possible to change the GRUB2 password

## Symptoms

- * Although an administrator configured a new GRUB2 password (in Gaia Portal or in Gaia Clish), the GRUB2 password remains the same in the Gaia Database.

  Example:

  `Gaia> show configuration grub2-password`  
  `
  set grub2-password-hash <SOME-HASH>`  
  `
  Gaia>`  
  `
  Gaia> set grub2-password`  
  `
  Enter new grub2 password:`  
  `
  Enter new grub2 password (again):`  
  `
  Gaia>`  
  `
  Gaia> show configuration grub2-password`  
  `
  set grub2-password-hash <ORIGINAL-HASH>`
* The `/var/log/messages` file contain this line from the time of changing the GRUB2 password:

  `xpand[<PID>]: grub2_pwd_cdk.grub2HashCrypt - Waited pid failed`
