# sk183342 - Check Point Response to CVE-2024-24916 - DLL HiJacking

## Symptoms

- * Untrusted DLLs in the installer's directory may be loaded and executed, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution with the installer's privileges (admin).
* This issue received the ID [CVE-2024-24916](https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2024-24916)

## Cause

The installer relies on the default Windows DLL search order, which includes the current working directory. If required DLLs are missing or not explicitly loaded from a secure path, this can lead to DLL hijacking.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in the SmartConsole **installer** starting from:

* [SmartConsole for R82](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk181127)
* [SmartConsole for R81.20](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.20_SC/Default.htm) - from Build 656 (released on 19 August 2024)
* [SmartConsole for R81.10](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/Jumbo_HFA/R81.10_SC/Default.htm) - from Build 426 (released on 20 August 2024)
