# sk183315 - "No Global Router ID configured" error when configuring BGP peers in Gaia OS after an upgrade to R81.20 or higher

## Symptoms

- * "`BGP: No Global Router ID configured. Please configure the same Global Router ID on all cluster members.`" error in Gaia Portal / Gaia Clish when configuring BGP peers.

* The BGP Global Settings are set to default values.

* This issue started after upgrading the cluster to the version R81.20 or higher.

## Cause

In the versions R81.10 and lower, it is possible to configure BGP peers without explicitly setting a BGP Global Router ID in a cluster, but this is not recommended.

Starting in the version R81.20, the requirement to configure a BGP Global Router ID explicitly in a cluster is by design to enforce best practices and ensure stable operation.
