# sk183217 - Media Encryption and Port Protection (MEPP) blade blocked a USB device, but the data is still accessible

## Symptoms

- * Media encryption blocked the device as per policy with a warning message "Access is denied", but the user can access the data.
* system logs shows `Description: Cannot access device after installing driver.... Error code 0x80070005.`
* Symantec is installed on the machine and controls the disk drives.

## Cause

The issue is caused by a 3rd party removable Media Encryption software installed along with Check Point Endpoint Media Encryption and Port Protection (MEPP) blade.

## Solution

Check Point does not support to have both 3rd party Endpoint Encryption Removable Media and Media Encryption and Port Protection (MEPP) blade installed.   

Check Point recommends uninstalling the 3rd party media encryption solution.
