## Symptoms

- * Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) or Red Screen of Death (RSOD) after a Windows update attempt.
* Upon booting into Windows Preinstallation Environment and running `mountvol t: /s` and `dir t`, this error message is displayed:
`Not enough space on the disk`
* RSOD error code `0x500EF12` on boot.
* Encrypted Endpoint clients failing to update

## Cause

The HP devices are experiencing storage capacity issues on the EFI System Partition (ESP) after recent updates. The ESP, a shared partition used by FDE, Microsoft, and various firmware vendors (for example: HP, Dell, Lenovo), has a default size of 100MB during a standard Windows installation.

This space is not sufficient based on the amount of data stored by each entity (FDE, Microsoft, and firmware). As a result, the ESP becomes fully occupied, leading to operational issues, including BSOD or RSOD.
