# sk183152 - The /var/log partition on a Security Group Member is full

## Symptoms

- * The `/var/log/messages` file on a specific Security Group Member contains these lines:

  * `asg_send_alert: [<Member_ID>] [<Member_ID>,hd_usage,/var/log,percent]: XXX exceeds maximum threshold of 80`

  * `auditd[<PID>]: Audit daemon is low on disk space for logging`  
    `
    auditd[<PID>]: Audit daemon is suspending logging due to low disk space.`

* The "`df -kh`" command in the context of the problematic Security Group Member shows in the column "`Use%`" that the `/var/log/` partition is full above 80%.

## Cause

In the reported case:  

1. The Threat Prevention profile assigned to the Security Group was configured to collect packet captures when IPS protections match the traffic.

2. Because on the problematic Security Group Member the `/var/log/` partition is full (the required free disk space is 20% or more), the internal script `$SMODIR/scripts/asg_copy_capture.sh` cannot delete these packet capture files from the `$FWDIR/tmp/amw/` directory after the Security Group Member forwarded the logs to the Management Server / relevant Log Server.
