- * Upgrade fails with one of these error messages:

  * "*Cannot deliver the file to the target.*"

  * "*Could not execute the operation on the remote machine: Failed to parse a response from the remote machine.*"

* Operation failed on the remote machine, and returned this error message:

"*Error copying data from the image file.*"

## Cause

There is insufficient free space in the `/storage` partition on the Quantum Spark appliance.

The Management Server requires a minimum of 200MB of free space in the `/storage` partition on the Quantum Spark appliance to transfer the image file.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [R81.10.17 for Quantum Spark Appliances](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk183153?server=us)

If you do not wish to upgrade, follow one of these available procedures:

### To upgrade the appliance manually in the WebUI

1. Go to **Device** \> **System Operations**.

2. Click **Manual Upgrade** and follow the wizard instructions.

The appliance automatically removes unneeded files from the `/storage` partition.

### To upgrade the appliance an SSH / Console session

1. Connect to the command line on the Quantum Spark appliance.

2. Log in.

3. If the default shell is Gaia Clish, go to the Expert mode:

   `expert`
4. Run this script to remove unneeded update files (IPS, Anti-Virus, Anti-Bot, etc.) from the `/storage` partition:

   `./pfrm2.0/bin/clear_storage.sh`

**Note** - Blade update packages are downloaded automatically after the upgrade.
5. Perform the upgrade either in SmartConsole or in the WebUI.
