# sk183073 - Location awareness Wi-Fi optimization stopped working after Window 11 24H2 Update

## Symptoms

- * Remote Access VPN connects while inside the Corporate Wi-Fi.
* Issue started after Windows 11 24H2 Update.

## Cause

Microsoft has implemented changes that affect how applications access Wi-Fi information through the **WlanQueryInterface** API, particularly when querying the current connection (**wlan_intf_opcode_current_connection** ).  

From **trac.log** :  

* **Working scenario:** \[ 5512 6500\]\[12 Dec 9:15:26\]\[location_awareness\] LocationAwareness::UpdateLocation: checking location again. primary interface had changed. current location is UNKNOWN  
  \[ 5512 6500\]\[12 Dec 9:15:26\]\[location_awareness\] GetMACOfDefaultGW: MAC address of default GW is 00-00-0c-99-99-99  
  \[ 5512 6500\]\[12 Dec 9:15:26\]\[location_awareness\] GetInterfaceDesc: Interface desc is Intel(R) Wi-Fi 7 BE200 320MHz  
  \[ 5512 6500\]\[12 Dec 9:15:26\]\[location_awareness\] IsInterfaceWireless: Device is Wireless  
  \[ 5512 6500\]\[12 Dec 9:15:26\]\[location_awareness\] GetSSIDVista: entering...  
  \[ 5512 6500\]\[12 Dec 9:15:26\]\[location_awareness\] IsInSSIDs: Current SSID 'WiFi_Enterprise' is part of the SSIDs  

* **Non-working scenario:** \[ 4984 14868\]\[16 Dec 14:18:03\]\[tunnel\] CLIPS::IkeTunnel::ReceivedESP: __end__  
  \[ 4984 8680\]\[16 Dec 14:18:03\]\[location_awareness\] GetSSIDVista: failed to query interface Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz with error 1  
  \[ 4984 8680\]\[16 Dec 14:18:03\]\[location_awareness\] IsInSSIDs: **ssid is empty** \[ 4984 8680\]\[16 Dec 14:18:03\]\[location_awareness\] LocationAwareness::UpdateLocation: exiting - current location is OUT
