## Symptoms

- * After an IPS update, automatic installation of the Threat Prevention Policy for multiple Security Gateways fails with this error: "*Threat Prevention Policy installation canceled for Module \<Gateway_name\>*".

* The task details window in SmartConsole shows: "*Policy installation canceled*".

* Manual policy installation in SmartConsole works.

## Solution

1. Open an SSH connection to the Security Management Server.
2. Navigate to `$FWDIR/log/cpm.elg`.
3. Search for the first "`Policy installation canceled`" error message. Run:
   `grep "Policy installation canceled" cpm.elg`
The reason for the failure should appear before the "`Policy installation canceled`" entry.
   For example:
`Threat Prevention Policy installation failed for Security Gateway <GW name>...&<Policy name> Installation failed. `
**Reason: IP = XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is not available right now**` `
`**##MSG_IDENTIFY##**5&2&Threat Prevention Policy installation canceled for Module <MODULE name>`
In this example, the Security Gateway has connectivity or availability issues.
4. Resolve the identified issue.
