## Symptoms

- * After configuring a printer on macOS computer that runs E89.00, Media Encryption and Port Protection blade stops working and crashes, although it is green in Endpoint UI.
* This process is restarted every 10s: Check Point Endpoint Security -mepp

## Cause

The crash occurs if the name of the Printer contains format specifiers, like '%'., meaning, it uses *URL encoding* .

Example:

`"Samsung_M332x_382x_402x_Series[*][*]usb://Samsung/M332x%20382x%20402x%20Series?serial=ZDKRBJAG70003KP&amp;0" `

Not all printers have this name standard. Also, not all of the printers with this name standard will cause the crash.

## Solution

**Troubleshooting**

Check if the same device is printed over and over, using this command:
`more /var/log/EndpointSecurity/cpmedApp.elg | sed -nE 's/.*\<InstanceID\>(.*)\<\/InstanceID\>.*$/\1/p' `

<br />

**To resolve** , open System `Preferences.app` "Printers and Scanners" and remove the problematic device.
