## Solution

To turn off VMWare Tools on Gaia virtual machine:

* To stop VMWare Tools on the fly, run from command line:

  `# service vmtoolsd stop`
* To stop VMWare Tools during boot, add the line: `service vmtoolsd stop` to the file: */etc/rc.d/rc.local*.
