# sk182480 - .NET version required for Harmony Endpoint

## Symptoms

- * In versions from E88.50 to E89.10, the installation of Anti-Malware, Anti-Bot, Forensics, and File Protection blades requires .NET Framework version 4.7.2 or later. If these blades are not selected, the required .NET version is 4.6.1 or later.
* Error 27589: The following products need to be installed in order to continue installation of selected blades: .NET Framework. Installation started. Reboot is required in order to complete Endpoint installation
* Error 27597: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or greater is required for the selected blades. Installation of .NET Framework is not included in this package.

## Solution

* Most computers are expected to have .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later installed, as it comes preinstalled with Windows 10 April 2018 Update (Version 1803) and Windows Server 2019 (Version 1803)
* The .NET Framework 4.8 offline installer can be included in exported packages of the HEP client installation based on admin selection
* If Threat Prevention blades are not selected, the minimum required .NET version is 4.6.1
* If Threat Prevention blades are not selected and the tray icon is not required (ATM mode), the .NET Framework is not needed
* If the .NET version needs to be updated according to the selected blades but the exported package does not include the .NET Framework installer, the installation will fail with error 27597
* Installing the .NET Framework might require a reboot.

**Supported installation methods:**

* **Automatic Software Deployment:** The .NET Framework will be installed automatically, and the system will reboot if necessary
* **Exported Dynamic Package (.exe):** .NET Framework installation is automatic; HEP installation process may request a reboot if needed.
* **EPS.msi:**
  * Installed via installation wizard (UI): The wizard manages .NET Framework installation and proceeds with product installation, prompting for a reboot if necessary.
  * Installed without installation wizard: Installation of .NET Framework will begin, and the installation will exit with error 27589. Re-running the installation is required after this error.
