## Symptoms

- * Unable to Access Gaia and Captive Portal. This error shows: `Error: Page Cannot Be Reached`
* Unable to access any multi-portal services such as Captive Portal, Gaia Portal, and otheres.
* Changing the Gaia port from 443 to 4434 resolved the initial connectivity issue. However, the captive portal remains problematic. Kernel debug logs, similar to those described in [SK115732](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk115732), continue to appear. Despite multiple attempts to renew the certificate, the issue persists.

## Cause

The issue is related to the vpnd process not running on the Security Gateway:

```
admin  11480 0.0 0.0   0   0 ?    Z  Jun13  0:03 [vpn] <defunct>
```

**Note -**The vpnd process is crucial for handling TLS operations in the multi-portal setup.
