# sk182197 - "The connection to the Security Management Server has been refused" error when connecting to SmartUpdate from Smart-1 Cloud

## Symptoms

- "The connection to the Security Management Server \<IP address\> has been refused because the database could not be opened" error when connecting to SmartUpdate from Smart-1 Cloud, for example:

## Cause

**SmartUpdate is not supported in Smart-1 Cloud.**

## Solution

To manage the Security Gateway licenses in Smart-1 Cloud, in SmartConsole navigate to **Gateway and Servers \> Licenses** tab:
