# sk182050 - Spark Firewall drops multicast traffic on a Bridge interface with the log "IP routing failed (bridge routing failure)"

| Products | Spark Firewall (Locally Managed) |
| Versions | R81.10.X |

## Symptoms

- * Multicast traffic does not pass through a Quantum Spark appliance when it arrives at an Internet interface.

* In Quantum Spark appliance WebUI, the "**Logs \& Monitoring** " view \> "**Logs** " section \> "**Security Logs** " page shows that the appliance drops traffic on the Internet interface (WAN / WLAN) with the log "`IP routing failed (bridge routing failure)`."

* The Internet interface (WAN / WLAN) is configured as a subordintate interface in a Bridge interface that also contains at least one subordintate LAN interface.

## Cause

By design, the Quantum Spark appliance does not route multicast traffic in this scenario:

1. Multicast traffic arrives at an Internet interface that is configured as a subordinate interface in a Bridge interface that also contains at least one subordintate LAN interface..
2. Multicast routing (PIM) is **not** configured on the appliance.
