# sk181893 - Cannot create a username that begins with a number in Clish

## Symptoms

- * In R81.20, when you use a Clish command to create a username that begins with a number (example: `add user 12345 uid 123 homedir /home/12345`), it returns this error message:

  > `NMSUSR0019 Username must begin with a letter and cannot exceed 32 characters. Please use alphanumerics, dash(-) or underscore(_) characters only`
* The same command works correctly in versions R80.40 and R81.10.

* In all versions, when you add a username in Gaia Portal \> Users \> Add, it is not possible to create a username that begins with numbers.

## Cause

An error message existed to deny a user created beginning with numbers in the Gaia Portal but not in CLISH, so it was possible to create the user with CLISH.   

Included a fix in R81.20 to do the same check with Gaia CLISH to prevent creation of users beginning with numbers.
