# sk181867 - Security Gateway experiences high CPU or memory consumptions when SmartView Monitor views are open

## Symptoms

- High memory usage on the Security Gateway.

## Cause

When you enable the "Monitoring" Software Blade on a Security Gateway and open SmartView Monitor views, the Security Gateway generates dynamic kernel tables with the names "`rtm_view_<ID>`" for real-time monitoring purposes. The Security Gateway stores these kernel tables in its memory (RAM).

Each open SmartView Monitor view consumes memory. If there are many SmartView Monitor views open, the memory consumption on the Security Gateway can reach high levels. Even more so, if you enabled traffic monitoring.
