# sk181817 - "Failed to fetch the file" error when opening the Forensics Report log entry on an on-premises Endpoint Security Management Server or Endpoint Policy Server

## Symptoms

- * "`Failed to fetch the file`" error when opening the Forensics Report and double-clicking a log entry on an on-premises Endpoint Security Management Server or Endpoint Policy Server.

* The *$FWDIR/log/fwd.elg* file on the Endpoint Security Management Server contains these lines:

  `[FWD XX XX]@HostName[Date Time] fwclient_connected: SIC Error for blob_forward: Authentication error, check peer's (X.X.X.X) debugs on process which is running on port 256`  
  `
  [FWD XX XX]@HostName[Date Time] fwclient_connected: connection failed`  
  `
  blob_collection_connect_event: connection failed`  
  `
  [FWD XX XX]@HostName[Date Time] --> CBlobFetcherThread::OnDone`  
  `
  [FWD XX XX]@HostName[Date Time] .--> 0xXXX CBlobFetcherThread::OnFailureCB`
* The *$FWDIR/log/fwd.elg* file on the Policy Server contains this line:

  `SIC Error for blob_forward: Server could not find authentication method, method returned deny for service blob_forward. Peer is: cp_mgmt`
* Output of the "`ls -l $UEPMDIR`" command on the Policy Server shows many "`*.blob`" files and also the "`*.blob.pending`" files.

## Cause

The Primary Endpoint Security Management Server fails to forward the required data to the Policy Server.
