# sk181617 - After an upgrade, the Media Encryption blade cannot mount encrypted media.

## Symptoms

- * After an upgrade, the Media Encryption blade cannot mount encrypted media.   
  The issue occurs when upgrading:   
  from E87.50 or lower to E87.60   
  from E86.80 or lower to E87.30 - E87.60
* In Console.App, these logs are printed for the SMD process:  
  `
  could not write launchd.plist for "com.checkpoint.esfs.Mounter.Helper" Error: Domain NSPosixErrorDomain Code=1 "Operation not permitted"".`

## Cause

Endpoint Security client incorrectly denies the system process /usr/libexec/smd to access the */Library/LaunchDaemons/com.checkpoint.esfs.Mounter.Helper.plist*file.
