# sk181314 - SmartView process does not start

## Symptoms

- * SmartView process is down, and no core dump is created.

  personalizedCpmServerSettings.props
* Running `evstart` or `cpstart` does not start the process successfully.

* Starting SmartView with debug (based on [sk101086](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk101086)) shows this error:  
  `
  [Expert@Management_Service:0]# $RTDIR/bin/SmartView debug`  
  `
  Starting SmartView. This may take a few seconds ...`  
  `
  Starting access list configuration`  

  `

  Management server is up`  
  `
  GUI clients:`  
  `
  Any`  

  `

  `
  JVMJ9GC028E Option too large: '-Xmx4096m'`  
  `
  JVMJ9VM015W Initialization error for library j9gc29(2): Failed to initialize; unable to parse command line`

* Output of the command `"# less -i $MDS_FWDIR/conf/cpmServerSettings.props"` shows `"SMARTVIEW_MAX_HEAP"` in it.

## Cause

The SmartView Max Heap size was overridden with a too-high value.
