# sk180788 - SCTP traffic stops passing after a few packets

## Symptoms

- * SCTP traffic stops passing after a few packets.

* Traffic capture on the Security Gateway shows that:

  1. The SCTP connection opens
  2. SCTP heart-beat packets start to flow
  3. There is only one acknowledgement
  4. The SCTP connection is reset
* Kernel debug on the Security Gateway "`fw ctl zdebug -m fw + drop`" shows that the Security Gateway drops the SCTP traffic with the message "*Non INIT packet on a new connection or association*".

## Cause

The Check Point protocol handler in the "SCTP" service object does not handle the SCTP traffic that uses a custom port.
