# sk180704 - Server connectivity test fails on Smart-1 Cloud

## Symptoms

- * The server connectivity test fails on Smart-1 Cloud when you select "test connection" below "export application email server."

* `"Could not authenticate using the credentials provided. Check the username and password"` error is shown. The username and password are known to be correct.

* In the file *$RTDIR/log/smartview.log* you see a similar log:

## Cause

SMTP authentication is off on the SMTP server.
