# sk180518 - Swap memory volume found in LVM manager on Azure deployments

## Symptoms

- When you view the LVM storage overview on an Azure environment, you can see a "Swap" partition with the description "Swap memory volume" that was not added by the user, for example:

## Cause

On Azure's previous images, there was no swap memory enabled. This was a limitation because of a requirement of Azure not to use the primary OS disk for swap.  
In images version 1108 and higher, they integrate the Azure Resource Disk for swap. It is a local SSD on specific instance types for temporary use.  
Swap is important mainly for RAM-intensive applications, typically in Management deployments.
