## Solution

### **Introduction**

The **Core File Uploader (CFU)** is a Check Point tool for automatic uploading memory dump files from any Gaia computer to allow Check Point R\&D to analyze and resolve the issues which caused it.
The core dump files are uploaded when these criteria are met:

1. The Server is online (for example, it has connectivity to Check Point). Refer to [sk83520](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk83520).
2. The user has enabled consent for sharing core dump files with Check Point ([sk111080](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk111080) or [sk175504](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk175504)).
3. A signature\* matching the core has been defined by Check Point R\&D
\*Check Point R\&D must define the parameters, what core dump files they request from the field, this is internally called a "core dump signature".

### Why should I allow to upload a core file?

A core dump file is created when a process in the device unexpectedly crashes. This can indicate an issue with the process code and can be caused by various reasons. Check Point R\&D analyze crashes in the field and fix the underlying code that caused them. Getting the full core dump files can significantly help with this process and reduce the time it takes for Check Point to resolve the issue.

### What data is shared with Check Point?

The memory dump file contains some information about the last state of the process before the crash. It can contain sensitive information, such as addresses related to the last connection, HTTP/HTTPS data, and SSH-related communication.

### How does Check Point ensure that my data privacy is safe?

The core files data is stored only locally on Check Point Servers and deleted three months after getting it. Check Point has strict guidelines on how this data can be accessed and processed, and it is not permitted to be duplicated anywhere.
