## Symptoms

- Installing the event policy from the SmartEvent client is slow.

## Solution

Installing the event policy from the SmartEvent client can take several minutes due to the presence of multiple Global Exclusion rules.

Combine similar rules to reduce the number of Global Exclusion rules.

1. Open the Global Exclusion view in the SmartEvent client.
2. In the table, search for rules that have identical values in all columns except one. For example, multiple rules may have the same destination and service values, but different source values.
3. Combine the source values of the rules into a group object.
4. Replace all those rules with a single rule that contains the common destination and service objects and uses the group as the source object.
