## Symptoms

- The LOM KVM console connection to the Security Gateway disconnects with a "Video Socket Error: Abnormal Termination" message while a network scan runs with Qualys or a similar scanning tool.

## Cause

A network scan sends an extensive amount of packets that creates a dense connection and causes the KVM console connection to disconnect.

## Solution

Follow one of the below procedures.

To restore KVM console connectivity on the fly:

1. Start the IPMI service:

   `[Expert@GW:0]# service ipmi start`
2. Perform a cold boot of the LOM card:

   `[Expert@GW:0]# ipmitool mc reset cold`
3. Stop the IPMI service:

   `[Expert@GW:0]# service ipmi stop`

The relevant fix is included in firmware versions released starting from August 2022.

**Important - When upgrading LOM firmware from previous versions, do not use the "Preserve all configuration" feature.**
