# sk179728 - Support for Windows 10 and 11 in Secure Configuration Verification (SCV)

## Symptoms

- Secure Configuration Verification (SCV) in Remote Access VPN Clients earlier than 86.80 does not provide a mechanism to detect major version updates for Windows 10 or 11. For example, it does not recognize 21H2, 22H2, 2004, and others.

## Cause

In Windows 10 and 11, major version updates are not provided through the service packs as in earlier versions of Windows. Rather, they are released semi-annually. Each new version of Windows 10 and 11 has its **version name** and **build number** which are consistent throughout the version's lifecycle. Major and minor version numbers stay the same for both operating systems, such as version 10.0.  

Remote Access VPN clients earlier than E86.80 can distinguish between different major and minor version numbers and service pack versions (that can not be used to detect major updates of Windows 10 and 11).
