# sk179604 - Fix for possible CPU instability in Spark Firewall 1600 / 1800

## Symptoms

- * Hardware issue on the 1600 and 1800 appliance which may cause a malfunction.

* This issue is relevant only to 1600 and 1800 appliances shipped before January 2022.

## Solution

**To resolve the problem:**

1. Download the updated image:

   For R80.20.40 build 2650-uboot can be installed on top of latest GA -- build 2665.

   For R81.10.00 build 0506-uboot can be installed on top of latest GA -- build 0506.
2. Perform a firmware upgrade.

The firmware above performs a one-time fix upon booting up. After running this firmware, you may upgrade at any time with new firmware as needed.

The upgrade does not affect your gateway configuration.

**To verify that the firmware upgrade was successful:**

In the WebUI, check the version number on the **Home** \> **System** page:
