# sk179367 - SED Opal encryption fails to activate on Lenovo T14 and T15 laptops

## Symptoms

- SED Opal encryption fails to enable on 2022 Lenovo Thinkpad T14 and T15 laptops.

## Cause

In the Lenovo BIOS (Firmware) for the 2022 ThinkPad models T14 and T15, there is a setting called "Block SID Authentication". This setting prevents Check Point Full Disk Encryption from setting up SED Opal in which it denies access during the SED Opal Ownership procedure.  

**Note -**The "Block SID Authentication" BIOS setting is implemented by Lenovo and is not part of Check Point Harmony Endpoint.
