## Symptoms

- Maintenance mode is inaccessible when the Gaia Expert Mode password contains more than 30 characters.

## Cause

GRUB 0.97 interface accepts passwords up to a maximum of 30 characters.

## Solution

**Important - This article applies only to Gaia R81.10 and lower.**

Change the Gaia Expert Mode password to contain fewer than 30 characters.
