# sk178770 - "ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH" error in a web browser when trying to open Gaia Portal

## Symptoms

- * "*ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH*" error in a web browser when trying to open Gaia Portal.

* Traffic capture on Gaia OS on the applicable interface (tcpdump with '-s0 -w' flags ) shows that Gaia OS responds with "*Fatal, Description: Protocol version (70)*" to "Hello" packet from the web browser client.

## Cause

When you configure Gaia Portal to listen on the TCP port 4434, Gaia OS uses the `httpd2` demon.

The corresponding configuration file */web/templates/httpd-ssl.conf.templ* does not have TLSv1.2 listed in the `SSLProtocol` directive.
