# sk178587 - The cpda.exe process fails to start on a machine created from golden image

## Symptoms

- * The cpda.exe process fails to start on a machine created from golden image (with the Sysprep utility).
* Endpoint Security Client stays in "disconnected" mode.
* The Endpoint Agent service stops; *"error 1237"* is displayed when trying to start it.
* Endpoint Security Client user interface shows no blades.

## Cause

After Sysprep (with Generalize option) tool execution, some system values that Endpoint Security Client uses no longer exist.

## Solution

Use of Endpoint Security Client on a machine cloned from golden image (which made use of the Sysprep tool with Generalize option) - is not supported.  

**Solution for Golden Image for Laptops and PC.**   

VDI detection can be used on endpoint for create a mimic VDI golden image.  
For do this please set registry key before installation of Endpoint on Golden image:  
\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\VMware, Inc.\\VMware VDM\\Node Manager\]  
"Managed"=dword:00000001  

After running Sysprep on clone machines please set additional key:  
\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\VMware, Inc.\\VMware VDM\\Node Manager\]  
"Agent Identity"="agent"  

**Note:** this manual configuration can't be used on VDI environment.
