# sk178486 - The httpd process for the ICA portal starts and stops in a loop

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk178486 |
| Date Created | 2022-04-05 |
| Last Modified | 2025-02-20 |
| Technical Level | General |
| Products | Spark Firewall (Locally Managed) |
| Versions | R81.10.X |
| Platform | 1500 |

## Symptoms

- * The ICA portal does not work.

* The *httpd* and *ica* processes do not run. Run "`ps -ef |grep -i ica`" in the Expert mode to make sure the processes do not run.

  <br />

* When you run "`cat /pfrm2.0/config2/fw1/conf/multiportal/httpd-conf/ica/httpd.conf`" several times in the Expert mode, the `MULTIPORTAL_INTERNAL_PORT` value changes all the time.

  <br />

## Cause

The `pfrm2.0/opt/fw1/web/Apache/apache2/logs/httpd.pid` is corrupted.

The *httpd* process for ICA checks the Process ID (PID) on startup and exits when it recognizes that the PID is corrupted.

The *sfwd* process starts the *httpd* process when it is down. As a result, the *httpd* process starts and stops in a loop and keeps changing `/pfrm2.0/config2/fw1/conf/multiportal/httpd-conf/ica/httpd.conf`, reducing the flash's lifetime.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [R80.20.35 for Quantum Spark Appliances](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk174683) starting from build 2639

If you do not wish to upgrade, run these CLI commands in the Expert mode:

1. `echo "* * * * * rm -f /pfrm2.0/opt/fw1/web/Apache/apache2/logs/httpd.pid" >> /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root`
2. `killall crond`
3. `/usr/sbin/crond`
