## Symptoms

- * Security Gateway Modules (SGMs) show "DOWN" after a failover.

* SGMs are stuck in the "INIT" state after a failover.

* The "`cphaprob list`" command shows "VSX" and "pull_config" PNOTEs.

## Cause

The time on the Chassis Monitoring Module (CMM) and the time on the SGM are different.

When an SGM initializes, it pulls the time from the CMM because the CMM monitors and controls the SGM, but during the Pull Configuration process from the Single Management Object (SMO), the SGM pulls the time from the SMO, too. If there is a mismatch, the SGM does not come UP.

<br />

## Solution

**Workaround:**

* Pull the configuration manually from the SMO with the "`#cpha_blade_config pull_config all <SyncIP>`" command and push policy.

<!-- -->

* If it is a VSX:

  1. Pull the VSX configuration with the "`#cpha_blade_config pull_vsx_config <Sync IP> all`" command.

  2. Stop and start each VSX on the problematic SGM with the "`#fw vsx restart_vs <vsx_id>`" command.

**Permanent Solution:**
Align the time on the CMMs and the SGMs:

1. To see the time, run the "`# hwclock --show`" command and compare it to the output of the "`# date`" command on SGMs.

2. To sync the time with the BIOS, run the "`# hwclock --systohc`" command.

3. Set the time. Example" "date --set "2021-12-03 17:30:00""

**Important** : Check and update the time on all CMMs in the environment. The CMM does not support time zones so the time will be in UTC. Make sure to convert the time from the local time zone to UTC in order to set the appropriate time on the CMM.
