Introduction {#Introduction}
----------------------------

To enable consolidation and advanced integration between on-premises environments and the Check Point (formerly known as Infinity Portal) applications, you must install **both** the **Remote API Access** and **Configuration Sharing** packages on your Management Server.

### Remote API Access

This package enables two-way API communication between your on-premises Management Server and the Check Point Portal. Specifically, it:

* **Allows the user and the Check Point Portal applications** to run APIs on on-premises Management Servers.
* **Allows the on-premises Management Servers** to run APIs on the Check Point Portal applications.

### Configuration Sharing

This package is required to upload and synchronize SmartConsole configuration and policy data with the Check Point Portal. Upload objects and policies of the Management Servers and share them with the Check Point Portal to:

* **Let the Check Point Portal services use network security management objects and polices** to provide a cross-services solution to Check Point customers.
* **Allow Check Point Portal applications** like SD-WAN, IoT, Harmony Connect and so on, **to offer a consolidated solution** to network security management Customers.
* **Enable object and policy sharing** between different security management servers through the Check Point Portal.

To learn more, watch the**[SmartConsole Integration with Cloud Services video](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/R81.20/Videos/Security_Management/EN/Cloud_Services_Integration.mp4)**.

The Remote API Access and Configuration Sharing packages are installed automatically on all relevant Check Point devices when Automatic Update downloads are enabled (see [sk175504](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk175504), section 2-B).

If Automatic Updates are disabled, you must first manually install the latest [AutoUpdater](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk165653) Take and then install the Remote API Access and Configuration Sharing packages manually using the steps below.

Manual Installation (Offline) {#Manual Installation}
----------------------------------------------------

### Instructions:

1. Download the offline package to your computer. See the "Availability" section.

2. Copy these packages from your computer to the Management Server (for example, to `/tmp` directory).

3. Connect to the command line on your Check Point device.

4. Log in to the Expert mode.

5. Go to the directory with the offline package.

6. Install the offline package:

   * On a Security Gateway / each Cluster Member / Management Server / Log Server:

     `autoupdatercli install <Name of Offline Package>.tar`
   * On a Scalable Platform Security Group (Maestro / Chassis):

     `g_all autoupdatercli install <Name of Offline Package>.tar`

**Note** : The installation does not require **`cpstop; cpstart`** or a reboot. Once installed, no further action is required, the update will be applied immediately.
