## Solution

Introduction to Solution
------------------------

This article is relevant to Endpoint Security Clients operating on Windows OS.
This Hot Fix applies to E86.01 **only** , and handles 2 issues:

1. USB drives that were previously connected to workstations running Endpoint Security Clients version E85.00 and earlier may not mount on a system running version E85.10 and higher.
**Expected behavior** : Device should be recognized and mounted normally.
**Problematic behavior**: Machine freezes after USB insertion.
2. In rare cases, a sharing violation may occur while using network drive for Microsoft Office / PDF files. In most cases a second attempt to open the file will resolve the issue.
**Expected behavior** : Files should be opened as expected.
**Problematic behavior** : The following message appears: *"Someone else is working in \<filename\>. Please try again later"*.

To resolve the issue
--------------------

There are two possible resolutions:

**Option 1:** Install a Hotfix. The Hotfix is safe to apply on any client version and bitness (32/64-bit). It applies only if the driver's build number is exactly as expected. **The Hotfix applies after the machine is restarted.**

### Hotfix Installation instructions

> There are two ways to install the Hotfix:
>
> 1. **To manually install update on Endpoint machine:**
> 1. Download [HEP_Updater_For_USB_Fix_Version_E86_01_Build_6623.dll](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal/role/supportcenterUser/page/default.psml/media-type/html?action=portlets.DCFileAction&eventSubmit_doGetdcdetails=&fileid=120449)
> 2. Run admin console from the command line:
> * For 64 bit : "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CheckPoint\\Endpoint Security\\Endpoint Common\\bin\\EP_CDT.exe" \<full path to downloaded dll\> \<uninstall password\>
> * For 32 bit "C:\\Program Files\\CheckPoint\\Endpoint Security\\Endpoint Common\\bin\\EP_CDT.exe" \<full path to downloaded dll\> \<uninstall password\>
> 3. **Restart the machine.**
> 2. **Upload update to Endpoint server, which then causes all client machines connected to it to download and install it** (by default this takes approximately four hours).
>
> **To upload update to server:**
> 1. Open connection to the server you wish to change (use winscp or other app).
> 2. Download and Copy the [sk177104.tgz](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal/role/supportcenterUser/page/default.psml/media-type/html?action=portlets.DCFileAction&eventSubmit_doGetdcdetails=&fileid=121061) file to any location on the Endpoint Security Server.
> 3. Run this command: tar -xf sk177104.tgz \&\& cd sk177104 \&\& chmod +x sk177104.sh \&\& ./sk177104.sh
> 4. **Repeat** all above steps in all connection point servers in your environment.
