## Symptoms

- * USB drives that were previously connected to workstations running E85.00 and earlier fail to mount on a system running E85.40 or E85.30 after an upgrade.
* The event log for MEPP shows Plug-in was allowed, and the hardware device shows up in Device Manager, but the drive letter does not show in Explorer or Disk Management. The message "Would you like to use this drive encrypted or unencrypted?" does not pop-up.
* When the system is restarted or is shut down, it may stop responding and may possibly require a hard shutdown by holding the power button.

## Cause

Driver issue triggered when attempting to read from an old SandBlastBackup folder on a USB drive encrypted by Media encryption. The folder is renamed to "HarmonyBackup" in E85.30.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [Enterprise Endpoint Security E86.25 Windows Clients](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk177584)

If you choose not to upgrade, this workaround is available: Connect the affected USB drives to a non-Check Point system and delete the hidden "SandBlastBackup" folder or rename the folder to "HarmonyBackup".

Additionally, Check Point can supply a Hotfix for this issue - an improved Endpoint Security Client package. A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix. For faster resolution and verification, collect the CPinfo file from the Endpoint Security Client involved in the scenario.
