- Setting hashed SHA256/SHA512 expert password may fail with an error message: "`set password-controls password-hash-type <password_hased> GAIA9999 Invalid Salted Hash`".

## Cause

The issue is in the hashed password view in Kernel 3.10

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81.10](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk175186) starting from Take 14
* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R81](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk170114) starting from Take 51
* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R80.40](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk165456) starting from Take 126
* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R80.30](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk153152) starting from Take 241

If you choose not to upgrade, as a workaround, create a password on a machine with Kernel 2.6:

1. *clish \> set password-controls password-hash-type SHA512*
2. *clish \> set user admin password*
3. *clish \> show configuration user*
4. Copy the hashed password
5. Go back to the Kernel 3.10 machine:
   *clish \> set expert-password-hash \<copied_hashed_password\>*
