## Symptoms

- * After an upgrade, indexes older than the configured number of days in the ` log_policy_extended.C` file are not deleted.

* Indexes older than the configured number of days are in the `$RTDIR/log_indexes` folder.

  Example:

  ```
  /var/log/opt/CPrt-R80.20/log_indexes/firewalltest_2019-05-14T00-00-00/
  /var/log/opt/CPrt-R80.20/log_indexes/firewalltest_2019-05-15T00-00-00/
  /var/log/opt/CPrt-R80.20/log_indexes/firewalltest_2019-05-16T00-00-00/
  /var/log/opt/CPrt-R80.20/log_indexes/firewalltest_2019-05-17T00-00-00/
  /var/log/opt/CPrt-R80.20/log_indexes/firewalltest_2019-05-18T00-00-00/
  /var/log/opt/CPrt-R80.20/log_indexes/firewalltest_2019-05-19T00-00-00/
  ```

  <br />

## Cause

In rare scenarios, a soft link can break after an upgrade. When the user then tries to delete the older indexes (pre-configured according to the *$FWDIR/conf/log_policy_extended.C* file), it is not possible to delete the indexes from the older version from the */var/log/opt/CPrt-R\<VERSION\>/log_indexes/* directory.
