# sk176446 - YUM traffic is dropped on an Application Control rule

## Symptoms

- * Yellowdog Updater Modified (YUM) traffic is dropped on an Application Control rule.

* The package download for the YUM update does not work with a YUM Application Control rule.

## Cause

In newer releases of CentOS, a program called "DNF" replaces YUM. DNF is the next generation version of YUM and replaces YUM in rpm-based systems. DNF makes it easy to maintain groups of packages and is capable of automatically resolving dependency.
