# sk176116 - "NTFS error 55" following Endpoint Client installation

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk176116 |

| Versions | Cloud, E89.X, E88.X |

## Symptoms

- * "`Scan drive for errors`" Windows Security and Maintenance notice is displayed following Endpoint client installation.
* Multiple "`NTFS error 55`" errors.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [Endpoint Security Client E86.26](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk178725&partition=Basic&product=Endpoint)

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the most recent version.
No data loss occurs since some information (called Kernel EA, written by NTFS to its MFT) is written to an already-deleted file. The only implications are the notifications, event ID 55, and the fact that user is being asked to fix the disk.
