# sk175543 - All Russian letters in SmartView reports exported as CSV are gibberish

## Symptoms

- All Russian letters in SmartView reports exported as CSV are gibberish.

## Cause

CSV file is not saved in the UTF-8 format.

If you choose not to upgrade, use one of these workarounds.  

**Workaround for Microsoft Excel:**

1. Click the **Data** ribbon.

2. In the section **Get External Data** , click **From Text**.

3. Browse to and select the CSV file.

4. Click **Open**.

   The **Text Import Wizard** opens.
5. In the **File origin** field, select **65001 : Unicode (UTF-8)**.

6. Configure other applicable settings.

7. Click **Finish**.

8. In the **Import Data** window, click **OK**.

9. Save the imported data in the applicable format.

**Workaround for LibreOffice Calc:**

1. Click the **File** ribbon \> **Open**.

2. Browse to and select the CSV file.

3. Click **Open**.

   The **Text Import** window opens.
4. In the **Character set** field, select **Unicode (UTF-8)**.

5. In the **Language** field, select Russian.

6. Configure other applicable settings.

7. Click **OK**.

8. Save the imported data in the applicable format.
