## Symptoms

- CloudGuard User Role is Displayed as Direct.

## Cause

Administrator assigned user permissions directly instead of using a role.

## Solution

Check Point recommends to assign roles to users instead of assigning the permissions directly. Otherwise, the user receives a Direct role, and the direct permissions are not scalable and difficult to manage.

**To remove a direct role:**

1. Create a new role for specific permissions.
2. Remove all directly assigned permissions.
3. Assign a specific role to the user.
